Accountant (d/f/m)

Our Team is spread across Europe, with a Studio Office in Berlin and a production Office in northern Portugal.

To support our Finance team, we're looking for a Accountant who can take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations and help us build faster, more accurate month-end closing processes as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

As our Accountant, you'll step into a hands-on role where precision meets process, managing the financial building blocks that keep MIKUTA running smoothly across our Berlin and Guimarães offices. You'll own the accounting for our Portuguese entity, covering all accounting tasks and tax office support, while also contributing to day-to-day bookkeeping in DATEV for our German operations.

• Receive, verify, and process vendor invoices and employee expense claims ensuring every document is correctly matched, allocated, and audit-ready before posting.

• Monitor accounts receivable and support the issuance of outgoing client invoices, following up on outstanding balances with professionalism and care.

• Post journal entries and actively contribute to monthly and quarterly closing procedures, with a focus on speed and accuracy.

• Support VAT return preparation in Germany (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung / OSS) and/or Portugal (IVA / OSS) depending on your base location.

• Catch and flag allocation errors or process gaps before they become bigger issues and find solutions on how to fix them.

• Propose improvements to workflows, templates, and processes to continuously raise the bar on efficiency and reporting quality.

ABOUT YOU

• About You

  • Background in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Ideally, you already gained first experience in Accounting and/or Finance in a international environment

  • Ideally, you already have some proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet tools; familiarity with German or Portuguese tax regulations (HGB, PGAAP, VAT/OSS) is a plus

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), German is a plus.
